Nir Barzilai  

Director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and president of The Academy for Health and Lifespan Research (AHLS).

Dr. Nir Barzilai is a leading figure in the field of geroscience. At the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Genetics, director of the Institute for Aging Research, and head of several centers dedicated to studying the basic biology of aging.

He has made numerous groundbreaking discoveries, including the identification of biological pathways associated with exceptional longevity in humans. He currently leads an international effort to gain approval for drugs that target the aging process. His study, Targeting Aging with Metformin (TAME) — conceived by Dr. Barzilai himself — aims to demonstrate that a single medication can combat multiple age-related diseases and obtain FDA approval for targeting aging directly.

Dr. Barzilai is the co-founder and President of the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR), where he co-leads the FAST (biomarkers), TAME, and Super Agers initiatives. He is also an Executive of the Longevity Biotech Association (LBA) and a Council Member of the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society.
