Daniele Magistro

Associate Professor in Aging and Dementia at the University of Southampton

Dr Daniele Magistro previously held academic posts at Nottingham Trent University as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Physical Activity and Health. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Sciences (2007), Master’s in Adapted Physical Activity (2010, with Laude), and PhD in Psychology of Development and Education (2012) at the University of Torino. 

Dr Magistro completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tohoku University, Japan, investigating cognitive-physical activity in older adults, and later held an RCUK fellowship at Loughborough University, contributing to the pioneering Dementia House project. He also served as Co-Investigator on the EPSRC–NIHR I’M-ACTIVE project. His research focuses on ageing, mobility, frailty, activities of daily living, and active living, with particular interest in how physical activity and supportive environments can enhance independence and quality of life in later years.
