Mercedes Aguirre Lipperheide was born in Getxo (Vizcaya, Spain) in 1966. Following her degree in Marine Biology (University of La Laguna, Tenerife) she went on to do her PhD at Leeds University (Pure & Applied Biology Dpt.- UK, 1993). For 24 years her activities have focused on health-related issues, nutrition and supplementation, with special emphasis on the field of prevention. For the last 10 years she has been leading Nua Biological Innovations SL, a laboratory dedicated to the elaboration of food supplements. She is also involved in applied research projects with public and private institutions and has also been a lecturer in various forums related to the above mentioned fields.
